Krister Lindén, Head of the Language Bank of Finland (Kielipankki), has been appointed as Chair of the Steering Group of Språkbanken (i.e. the Swedish Language Bank) as of 1 January 2025. Krister Lindén is Research Director of Language Technology at the Department of Digital Humanities of the University of Helsinki. He also leads the national FIN-CLARIAH research infrastructure and is National Coordinator of the FIN-CLARIN consortium, and serves as Chair of the National Coordinators Forum (NCF) of the European CLARIN ERIC.
The Finnish and Swedish Language Banks are already actively cooperating. For example, the Korp search service interface, developed in Sweden, is also important in the collection of tools offered by the Finnish Language Bank. Krister Lindén’s position of trust will make it even easier to promote common goals.
